Advanced Ethics in Prevention

This training is intended for substance use prevention professionals in Texas.

About the EIP Training:

Developed by SAMHSA’s former Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies (CAPT) and adapted for Texas, our Advanced Ethics for Prevention Professionals training allows participants to explore the role and application of ethics in prevention work. Throughout the training, participants will explore practical information and guidance, engage in small- and large-group discussions of key concepts, and identify action steps to facilitate future application. Interactive activities and discussions help participants refresh their understanding of the Prevention Code of Ethics, understand ethical issues related to prevention topics, and learn how to apply the ethical decision-making process in real-world situations.

Continuing Education Hours: 6.5*
Satisfactory completion of continuing education hours (CEHs) requires attending at least 85% of the training duration, participating in activities (e.g., polls, breakout rooms), and completing the training evaluation.

Requirements:
This Advanced Ethics training is virtual, occurring live over Zoom. All participants are required to join on camera and are expected to fully engage in the training to be eligible to receive a Continuing Education (CE) certificate upon completion. Participants do not need a Zoom account to attend the training – you may attend through any internet browser option if you do not want to download the app.

Registration:
This training is limited to 20 participants. You must submit a registration and be approved to attend (you will receive an email approving or denying your registration). Registration priority will be given to HHSC funded substance use prevention providers who have previously completed Ethics training.  Click here to register. The deadline to register is November 29th.
